The Roman tradition certainly offers more variety of land than sea so it must be admitted that many Romans, taking advantage of the proximity to the sea, prefer to go directly to the beach to have a nice fish meal.
This doesn’t mean that there aren’t excellent fish restaurants in Rome, although I warn you that in these places the bill could easily get high!
Il SanLorenzo

SanLorenzo is one of the best restaurants in the center of Rome. A very elegant place that offers refined dishes based on excellent quality and always very fresh fish.
The central location just behind two of the most important squares in Rome, Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona, and the high quality of the food make the price of the menu skyrocket. To avoid surprises, you can opt for a tasting menu and be sure of both the final bill and that you have tasted the chef’s specialties! Reservation is highly recommended.
Chinappi

Another excellent fish restaurant is located in the Porta Pia area, not too far from Via Veneto and Villa Borghese. This is Chinappi, an elegant place, with excellent quality food and always fresh fish. The price also in this case reflects the environment and the quality of the food, but the tasting menu is certainly more affordable.
Mamaflò

As I told you, the best fish restaurants are located by the sea. Ostia, together with Fiumicino and Fregene, is the closest access to the sea in the capital and among its many fish restaurants, certainly one of the best and among the most easily reachable by public transport even from Ostia antica, is the Mamaflò fish restaurant.
The restaurant has a splendid view overlooking the sea and during the summer offers the possibility of eating directly on the beach. Elegant and with an excellent quality/price ratio, always ask for advice on the dishes offered on the menu if there is a catch of the day. In summer, booking is highly recommended.
